watermelon 022

$3 a gallon gas was just a smokescreen to throw us off so the man could jack watermelons up to $8 for the last month with little fuss.  Bastards.

A letter from Sears came telling me to call an 800 number to close my current Mastercard account with them because it had been compromised.  I finally got through the %$&# automated answering system and a real live Southener answered.   Always suspicious of identity theft,  i wouldnt tell her my account number.  If that phone number truly led to Sears they already knew it.

We had a few rounds of this
"How do I know this is really Sears?"
"What did I say when I answered the phone?"
"Sears, but anyone could say that."  duh

Finally the lightbulb went on over her head and she told me the 800 number in the letter was also on the back of my card.  Satisfied i told her my account number and she closed it saying a fresh card would arrive in a few weeks.   We went over my charges and they were all mine.  No fraud.  After hanging up realized i missed my chance to say that i had no animals and the $408,325 worth of vet bills must have been rung up by the crooks.

Four days later an envelope from Sears arrived with a PIN, telling me to memorize the number and destroy the letter.  I dont know why i need a PIN it must be so i can get cash from an ATM with my creditcard.  Ever vigilent for my security Sears sent my new card in that very same batch of mail.   It was in an unmarked envelope, i'm sure that would throw off anyone ripping off our curbside mailbox.

They grow up so fast.  Every spring my bird family sets up house outside my  window.  This blurry shot is through the screen.  This baby and I had a staring contest over the weekend.  Havent seen him in two days now,  i'm an empty nester.  I like the last frame, his dad does a fly-by with a bug and the baby automatically opens his big mouth.
